Holdens To Newcastle

TOM Walkinshaw wants to ship hot Holdens to Newcastle.

Or more correctly, hand-built high-performance speciality vehicles to England.

The car he has in mind is the SV5000-the most powerful and expensive Holden ever built. The SV 5000 is, of course, built by Walkinshaw's 100 per cent Australian subsidiary, Holden Special Vehicles.

Walkinshaw visited the local operation this week on one of his half-dozen annual visits. He had plenty of business to do in 72 hours.

Getting the feasibility study underway for the SV 5000 export project was only one item on an agenda that included meetings with GM on the forthcoming Group A road car, establishing a new team to develop and run the VN Commodore racing program and some work on a Special Vehicles version of the new Statesman.
